About me

Emily singleton is the principal psychologist at common ground therapy

A woman with blonde hair smiling, resting her chin on her hand, wearing a beige sweater, indoors with blinds and a ceiling fan in the background.

For Emily, therapy isn’t just about talking things through — it’s about curiosity, connection, and finding a way forward that feels right for you.

A long-standing curiosity into the human experience led Emily into the world of mental health. She sees therapy as a space to truly understand yourself and create meaningful change.

Working primarily with adults, Emily takes a goal-oriented approach. She starts by helping you make sense of the uncomfortable emotions or experiences that brought you to therapy, and then explores ways to move forward — whether that’s through reflective conversation, practical techniques, or bigger life adjustments.

Emily integrates techniques from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Attachment Theory, tailoring her approach to what works best for each individual.

She enjoys the many personalities that walk into a therapy room, and welcomes the softly-spoken to the loud and quirky. She tends to work best with those who like warmth, humour and a gentle push in the right direction.
